Welcome to the second installment of the Building Transfer Centers series! This multi-episode series spotlights university and 4-year institution transfer centers. We interview transfer center directors to learn about the origin stories, the advocacy and the structure behind each center, as well as the nuts and bolts of developing centers that work for the communities specific to each institution.
Our featured guest for this episode is Megan McConnell. McConnell serves as the Director of Central Washington University’s Transfer Center. She has more than 15 years experience advising prospective and incoming transfer students. As a first-generation student herself, she works to make higher education more accessible and comprehensible to students. She is a member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and the Washington State Joint Transfer Council.

The CWU Transfer Center opened its doors in February 2020. It offers pre-admission advising to students who are considering transferring to CWU and peer mentor appointments to provide guidance, resources, and assistance for current transfer students. The center also supports students who are seeking to finish an incomplete associate's degree with a reverse transfer option.
Throughout this series, we will cover transfer centers from a variety of institutions and perspectives on transfer success.
